Only anecdotal. A classmate of my child just announced on Friday they were attending, and my son is *pretty sure* they came off the waitlist.

A lot of kids haven't announced yet. I wouldn't assume late announcements are due to WL movement.

My own kid is still choosing between 4 options (whittled to 4).

Of course, but this specific kid my son believes was on the WL.

Based
On?

another classmate (who is better friends with her) told him that.

Duke is well worth it if you can swing it

Duke is now $89 a year. UVA College of Arts & Sciences in-state is $38. Thats a delta of $51 in after-tax dollars, meaning you have to go out and make $80 to pay the delta. $80k x 4 = $320k extra for Duke. Instead, go to UVA and bank the difference and let it compound and pay for grad school. Thats what we did so can now afford a top law school at an obscene $110k a year.

Mine got into Duke as well. Chose UVa Echols instead. We are in-state. Practical kid. We don’t qualify for aid. 529 will be saved for grad school with remaining up to 35k rolled into kid’s IRA. UVa checks off all the boxes.
