Glad she is on the field and playing well now.
Choe Ricketts contract was not renewed by the Washington Spirit. Sad to see how she was advised by parents and adults around her. Her options going forward are limited and she is 18.
Why are her options limited? What's preventing her from signing with another team or going international? Your view seems limited.
The obvious thing limiting her options is that the Spirit didn’t think she was good enough to offer her a contract. That’s after watching her up close for years. International is a possibility or maybe the other local pro team DC Power. Is college still an option or did she become ineligible when she signed a pro contract.

In my mind. She can still go to college. Don’t know her but I’m sure she’ll be just fine with or without soccer because of the experience. Pretty solid college essay topic. When I was 15….
Good luck Chloe you got your whole life ahead of you still!
Does it make me feel good? No. Does it make you feel good? I'm sure she's thrilled you think she will be writing college essays.

Croix Bethune was called in as a training camp player. Very well deserved.
And while I know she's not on the Spirit anymore, Sam Staab got her first invite too.
Hopefully its a good sign going forward. USWNT previously was run like they cared more about names than taking actual talent.
Anybody have an update on Chloe Ricketts? She was not rostered for last game and I thought there was a rule she has to be rostered for every game until she turns 18.

It will be interesting to see it unfold. The new DC Team, DC Power FC, is part of the 1st season of a new professional women's division called USL Super League...(Yes, I just had to look this all up!) And, US Soccer granted USL S the same status as the NWSL, denoting both leagues as Top Level professional Leagues. They will even have similar minimum starting salaries of around $34k per year. While I haven't found a roster for DC Power FC, the seem to have signed a lot of decent talent (yet nobody I've ever heard of). They will also play in Audi Field, their 1st game is August 17th!
I suspect we will not hear much about the new league or team as its likely their advertising budget is very little, when compared to the NWSL.... who are having great success in general team valuations over all. It might be market saturation... if they do not get off the ground financially in the first 3 years, they will likely implode or revert back into a 2nd tier status. The owners of DC Power FC are a potpourri of folks with money looking for returns, not unlike venture capitalists.
It will give young players more opportunity to play professionally or to get their start, which is great. But it remains to be seen if the team/ league can get any momentum going at all. However, an interesting option for NWSL and USL S teams may exist for them to compete against one another. CONCACAF may hold a women's club cup in which both leagues would be eligible to participate.
