PP here. I don't give a fig about WashU, and I'm totally okay with people expressing varying opinions on whatever school. If you want to, for example, criticize WashU for traditionally catering to the rich, that's fair. But posting verifiably incorrect facts does not constitute a "perspective." It's intentionally misleading and creepy.
And I don't think you've actually grasped the concept of astroturfing. The point is that it doesn't involve the exchange of several different "perspectives" (plural) from several different people. This is a single person continually expressing the same perspective as if several different people were expressing that perspective. I don't see how that does anyone any good.

My take it is a hard school to keep track of because the name is so generic. A couple of top students my DC's year knew to apply, because of automatic merit scholar awards. Both were flown out at the school's expense for an admitted student's day. Neither took the offer because it was still very expensive. One went to a state school. The other went to Harvey Mudd, even though that was more expensive still. It's a school that caters to private school kids, where it's cache has a longer shelf life.
