She's very impressive:

"Gaskins has a bachelor’s degree in medicine, health and society from Vanderbilt University, a master’s in urban planning from Georgetown University, and a master’s of public health from the University of Pittsburgh and a certificate in municipal planning from the University of Chicago." Just from her education she's way more qualified to be mayor than any past mayors and the other candidates.

Lovely quote about her family:

"Gaskins says that she gets four-to-five hours of sleep on a good day, and that her family is committed to seeing her conduct city business.

“What I do think I’ve been able to create in my life and will do as mayor is a harmony where I have found a way for all of the pieces to work together,” she said. “I recognize the demands that will be on my time, then it makes sense that will be on my family’s time. But this is something that we are fully committed to doing as our unit and making sure that as a unit we can serve and continue to deliver.”

I wasn't going to vote for her but she does seem like the best option.


Definitely don’t want someone with a masters in urban planning. They will ruin Alexandria with their dogmatic policy goals. Urban planning is the most useless degree and these people pretend that municipalities function like Sim City.

All this begs the question..... why is Greg always missing? We see the other council member's spouses at pretty much every event. But, Greg, is always missing.

We do? I couldn't identify any of their spouses. Seems unprofessional for them to be there. Were they at the Potomac Yards announcement where the Mayor and current Council were all salivating over Ted and Glenn? Did Amy's husband get jealous at how excited she was to be in the same room with them?

My vote against Gaskins has nothing to do with her husband, and 100% to do with her arena support. She was a supporter only when it became en vogue to be against it, which was at the very last hour.

I know most of the mayoral and council candidates were similar, and none of them will get a vote for me. It spoke volumes about them. I don't care who supported it in the beginning. But I care *when* they changed their tune.

WTF are you even talking about? It's public record. His name is Greg A Gaskins and his DOB i January 4, 1994. There are a dozen arrests on the first page of the VA court system alone.

What 'proof' are you looking for? Are you claiming the VA court system is lying?

It doesn’t matter. Alexandria is competing with Arlington to see who can tank the city or county first. Nothing but affordable rentals and empty office spaces. At least Alexandria did not get as suckered into the Amazon like Arlington.
