I have a very non-quirky girl who would also be much happier around boys who don’t fit the “bro” model. Most intelligent women fall in that category.

Odd that OP is actively helping their kid find a bro culture school. That is everything I don't want for my kid who is still too young to be looking seriously at specific schools.

There are some bros at Yale, on the teams and in the frats, but most of the kids seem to be stemmy nerds.

Op, my 2 cents: your son's personality may mean he wants to head-off somewhere where he knows someone. One or two guys from his HS class, or guys who were ahead of him in school. I'd really research where guys like him, from his HS, go. Ask other parents from your HS, where they shared a friendship, activity. The data's there. Have a frank discussion with the HS guidance department. You won't need to look hard, won't need to look for a needle in a haystack.

This is 2023. Yale has changed. As have many other schools.

I'm reminded of the parent on here a few weeks ago whose son chose Cornell over Cal Tech (based on the Ivy brand). He is a super bookish, STEM focused, introverted, serious musician and he's now miserable.
Trust me, my "bro" kid would be just as miserable at Cal Tech.
Sure, there are all types at each school but it is overwhelmingly easier to find your way at a school that matches who you are.
