I'm not the PP, but the advice I heard from friends with older DCs when our first was in cycle - good to have at least one admit in hand if ED does not work out and your DC is devastated by the news.

Curious where you got that statistic? I had heard more 11-12% from our college office?
How would that even make sense? Williams ED 2026 was 31% acceptance rate and was 27% acceptance rate in ED 2027. Most likely close to 25% acceptance rate this year as PP said

My unhooked kid got into Williams a couple of years ago during ED, as did their unhooked friend. Their private high school has a history of sending at least a couple of kids to Williams every year. If DC had gone to our local public school, they wouldn't have gotten in - Williams doesn't take kids from there.
