Every year for Mother's Day my DH gets my car detailed. I really look forward to it!

I think another really practical gift is a bike/ball air pump. Ours gets used all the time!

I think decorative items are practical!! You have to decorate a home! You must have a plain Jane home

My decor is personal to me. Everything has significance. Nothing came from a discount store in a strip mall.

There is literally nothing decorative at Home Goods or Ross that I would keep. Expect rictus smiles and forced thanks if you go this route.

This reminds me of the year my dad gifted my grandmother a fire extinguisher for Christmas. It was for her kitchen and she had a small in-home daycare. He was so damn proud of himself for thinking of something so practical, but when she opened it she was pissed.

the best gift my husband received from me (according to him): was a bidet in his office bathroom. I had a plumber and electrician come out to outfit our bathroom with the specs, bought a really nice one on Amazon (that the plumber installed), put the lid down with a bow on it.

Apparently square-headed brownie servers are all the rage this holiday season!

Be sure to buy in bulk in case your spouse loses it.

Re Bombas: I find them super uncomfortable. Rough, too thick, and weirdly tight on the top of my feet (and my feet are not weirdly shaped).

If they have medium to long hair, get them a sh*t-ton of hair ties.

DP, but mine are holding up strong on year #2. I also got them for my kids and they don’t have any holes (unlike thinner socks that end up with a hole in the heel). I really like them!

I got a couple of pairs of Bombas last year from a relative and they are still going strong. I still appreciate them even though I never would have thought to ask for socks.

I like to gift house plants. But I only do this for friends whose style I know pretty well and that they can keep a plant alive (plus you have to consider any pet toxins if they have a dog/cat). So maybe not good for everyone. But I think it can make a nice house warming present in particular.
