Ouch. You weren't lying. I was curious so I looked them up on the EDP schedule and it looks like they only have 3 girls teams in EDP:

6th place out of 6 - Virginia Revolution SC VRSC 09G Black (VA)
5th place out of 5 - Virginia Revolution SC VRSC 08G Black (VA)
5th place out of 8 - Virginia Revolution SC VRSC 07G Black (VA)

But here's the *really* crazy thing. Parents are paying a club fee of $2750 plus a team fee of $500 - $600 for that.

You can debate the value proposition of VRSC but they have fields and the real driver of sporting success at FCV. FCV has no fields or real coaches. It may take a few years but the writing is on the wall.

Problem is, GA would be take a major hit adding a Club like VRSC. The existing girls teams are atrocious as compared to even bad GA teams and the rest of the US outside our DMV box would be like WITAF! The only way that happens is if STJ were to sell the program and FCV is rebranded to VRSC on the girls side. This means BP would also have to leave. There is no other way. If STJ is making money off of FCV, than it’s not going to happen but if STJ is losing money on the program, I guess it’s possible.

Regardless, I feel for the families involved especially if BP is not transparent come time for tryouts. I mean, what do you do as parent if you are in this situation???

Once next season’s deposits have cleared is when BP reveals that practices will be in Springfield and Annandale. Good luck FCV families!

Interesting to see what happens. I agree with PPs that mentioned folding the FCV girls teams into VRSC would be a viable option - but I wonder if TSJFCV would allow their GA program to leave? Springfield already has plenty of soccer clubs around so what would be the draw? The St. James facility is beautiful but a pain to get in and out of.

Why would anybody go to Loudoun? All of their ECNL teams are terrible.

Not the girls, 09s, 08s and 07s are quality teams. 07s have a nice commitment list already.

Seems you have no idea what you are talking about.

Yes, and a big reason for that is because of this NVA merger. They could not develop their own players in house and needed to draw more competitive players in to compete against stronger ECNL teams. Our team beat their 06G ECNL team in a tournament. Loudoun also was not transparent about the NVA plan and upset a lot of parents who had players who would have moved up or not given the opportunity. They didn't answer any questions during the Town Hall and purposefully ignored parents who had pointed questions about the merger.

the merger did nothing! you really think an ECRL player can move up and be committed to DI?

Plenty of RL players have committed to D1 and still are! What are you talking about?

GFR’s 05/06 ECNL-RL team has multiple D1 commits on it. And at least one more who had a D1 offer and *chose* to go D3.

Comparing Solar to GFR, Valor, and Loudoun is crazy.

There’s not enough room for BP and their current TD’s egos to co-exist.

The results are worse, but more importantly, they just don’t play well. CC might be good, but he’s not a miracle worker. How does it make sense to bring in a guy who has been a TD at a far better club and not give him the same job? It’s not like Clyde is their TD.

And partnering with DC United? Good luck with that. That’s going to be a one way relationship.

CC as the TD would be a night and day improvement over the individual currently in that role. It’s interesting that he’d be willing to apparently accept a non-TD role especially given the current staff there but money talks and enough of it will make people do seemingly crazy things.

It's because their ED is an absolute doofus and has no idea how to run a soccer club. He just knows how to pump money in.
