Especially after at least one university (GWU) told them they were at risk and to stop wearing them. It can’t be status; it’s not their money.
The rationale is that GWU students and every other decent person have the right to have and enjoy the possessions they or their benefactors can afford, and that what needs to change is the behavior of criminals not others.
Nothing has ever changed the behavior of criminals, and nothing will. Why is that so hard to understand and accept?
So not true - harsher consequences will change. They have no fear because nothing happens. We're too lenient.

It’s the only way this current crime wave will end.
Then why is violent crime lower in many cities with gun restrictions than cities in Alaska etc?
Because there’s like 4 people in Alaska. If one of them commits a crime, it means 25% of the population is a criminal and the other 3 have a .33% chance of being a victim of crime.
Yeah urban crime is high in states with lax gun laws too, but also city restrictions don’t really mean anything when we’re next to Virginia. It’s not like people are having a hard time getting guns.

Have pity for them. They need the coats more than you do. These poor people don’t have access to any help.
NP. While I find PP's tone a little odd considering the fact that there was a gun(!!!) involved, I do think that if this person truly did this out of a need for a coat, they deserve pity. Hopefully they can get a warm blanket and a hot meal in jail, and hopefully people at risk of freezing can get some kind of help.
Y'all are just plain idealistic, naive and stupid.
Yet the coats people wear from Walmart are never stolen.
Maybe buy a coat instead of a gun?
The kids have to steal the guns, so they can steal the cars and coats they need to stay warm! Duh.
They aren't stealing these coats to stay warm, they are stealing them because the coats are worth $$$$.
I know you are being sarcastic, but it's worth pointing out that the income spreads have become so wide that is easier to make money by stealing stupid expensive coats and really expensive designer dogs than to get a job.
I'm from a poor area and learned early on that if you flaunt wealth it will get taken from you. Buy regular les expensive coats and adopt a shelter dog and most people who need or want more money will leave you alone.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:This is not new. It used to be Northface jackets they would steal. Now parents are dumb enough to buy their kids $900+ jackets.
If you’re stupid enough to buy a $900 piece of clothing for a kid who will outgrow it in 6 months, you probably SHOULD be getting robbed. Regularly.

I think it's time for the national guard at this point.

A victimless crime. There was someone who complained. They should know their place and keep quiet.

Personally, I would never wear an expensive coat. For my money it’s wasteful. But for their money they could do whatever they want with it, and they have the right to wear it without fear of it being stolen.
I worked so hard for my Canada goose, from cleaning motel rooms as a kid, working at putt-putt in the summers, work-study jobs, etc. I love my Canada goose and now I can’t wear it because of thugs.
Stop bragging how hard you work; many people have. Get a Scandinavian brand that is just as good if not better but unheard of yet.
They would pass you, google it, and then decide whether to jump you or not. You have time to escape.
If it’s unheard of, how would anyone know about it to purchase it?

I honestly see absolutely no difference at all when democrats mug you through taxes for their socialist agenda versus these guys in the street who deserve a piece of your wealth (e.g. nice coat). TBH, I think the muggers on the street have more integrity than Dems in office, because at least they’re honest about their intentions. Dems mug you for your wealth and pretend like they’re doing you a favor.
The thread is about street crime but go off.
You’re just salty because it is true. No difference between Democrats in Congress vs the streets doing wealth redistribution.
Only if you are a dumb partisan. Normal people can easily see that taxes are not the same as violent crime. What a bunch of foolishness masquerading as thoughtful argument.
