No I did not like it. I can't believe it was the mystery book of the year last year. So forced and pretty terrible.

I read four books by Debbie Macomber in November. They were all enjoyable. However, four Debbie Macombers in a row is kind of like eating an entire pecan pie by myself in one setting. So much sweetness that I now want to avoid it for a while.

Colleen Hoover books are not my typical genre. But I bought a kindle at the thrift shop for $4 and it was on there. I figure the kindle only cost $4 because it didn't come with a charger and the battery was dead, but I had one just like it at home (kindle keyboard) so I knew I could charge it. Once I got it charged I discovered there were already about 200 books loaded onto it. Verity was one of them.

The end of the year is approaching and I haven't yet reached two of my 2023 reading goals: to read a classic and to read a book club book that I missed at the time - so I am trying to get these two in.

I read "My Grandmother asked me to tell you she's sorry" a couple years ago. I liked it. Another book I read by Fredrik Backman that I liked even more was "Britt-Marie was here".
I like all of his books.

Is this like the thing where white people think anime characters look white? Pretty sure the cover models are all Chinese. But honestly even if they weren’t some incredible books have really horrible covers (shoutout to my insane 80s copy of Left Hand of Darkness) so I’m not really sure that’s relevant to it being a really fun book to read.
