Why would gun control ever happen? You can shoot up a classroom full of 8 year olds at Sandy Hook and nothing changes. This is just a regular weekday event here. I'm surprised it is national news at this point. Routine American life.

i admire your naivete and your optimism, but i have seen this play out over and over again. What will happen is in the 3-4 weeks after the tragedy, there will be a push for common sense gun control, it will get watered down, and in 2 months nobody will be trying to do anything about it. Some sane states may pass an AWB, but those will get overturned by SCOTUS in 6-9 months. What will happen however is the insane right will purchase record amounts of guns during that meantime, its like black friday to those people every time a mass shooting happens.

This is ABSOLUTELY an insane country we are living in and i can wait to get out of it soon enough.

One should be required to submit to an extensive psychological screening as part of the process for buying a gun or having a gun transferred to you.

Sorry that we have to talk about gun control when there is a mass shooting because there is always a mass shooting in this country.

For decades the SCOTUS interpreted the second amendment differently. So the current reading is not necessarily correct.

I would vote to amend the constitution if necessary, to stop this insanity.

The world's military/police forces on a good year procures ~300-400k long guns a year. The american civilian procures more long guns than the entire police/military of the planet by somewhere close to 15-20 to 1.

CIA estimates back in the 90s was that the soviet old coldwar stockpile of small arms during the coldwar was about 50-75 million, maybe with 2/3 still functional. American in the last 20 years have stockpilled somewhere close to 60-80 million long guns. american civilian's stockpile of deadly weapons already dwarfs the soviet stockpiles meant to fight WW3,
