Not only does average mean 50% of new cars sold went for less than 47k, it also misses that plenty of cars sold were used.

In addition, many new cars are sold for business fleets and rentals. And, by looking at only the average and not the mean, the price of high priced ultra luxury vehicles and sole proprietorship trucks can skew the price since some of these are in the mid-6 figures.

I just got a Civic for 29k. It’s an EX, which is the nicer trim. I didn’t want the EX, but it’s all they had and my Toyota, with 240k miles on it was, dead. This was a few months ago and inventory was scarce- no Toyotas and very few Hondas. It was a sellers market.

Back to the Civic, while I didn’t want or need the EX, it’s actually, for a Civic, a fun car. It is peppy (has a turbo), drives and handles great, and looks good. It’s my commuter car, so for its purpose, works great.

I live 40 miles from my desk. Should I bike every day?

They said it was a preorder and the buyer backed out. They did say if i wanted to order a car i would pay the regular sticker price.

I drive a 2006 Toyota Corolla. I paid $9K for it 14 years ago. With the BLS inflation calculator, that is $13K today. I just did a search on Kelly Blue Book for cars between $10K and $15K. There was exactly one result. One.

Have you driven a newer Civic with leather interior? They are actually so nice inside and zippy. Felt just as roomy as the CRV. Easy to park, don't have to worry about driving into bollards or toddlers.

What is shown on the website as the starting price, and what the out the door price is (before taxes and tags) are two different numbers. Half of those starting prices are unattainable as car manufacturers are making less base model cars these days.

You can easily drive off the lot with a Mazda, Kia, or Hyundai for under $30k. Of course you’ll probably have 100000 excuses for why you don’t want to buy one of those cars instead before you’ll ever admit you’re trying to keep up with the Jonses, you care about your image, and you want to spend more on stupid bells and whistles.

We have a corrola that we use as a commuter. Out the door was far under 30k
