I’d like to claim some dramatic ultimatum, like leaving the country to take up a new life somewhere saner. But who am I kidding? At my age I’m not going anywhere. I’ll probably just hunker down & read escapist books. Maybe get some firearms training.

I would recommend you start training with an AR-15. As much as the left shits on rifles, the rifle is actually the greatest equalizer if you are women or disabled or young. A pistol is actually 10x harder to master and handgun shooting is a perishable skill, requiring countless hours of range time largely only professionals have time to afford.

Oh hell no. F off NRA. Just got back from a country with very few fire storms and it was fantastic. Relaxing.

great, when you have successfully defunded the police or we have a fiscal crisis from all the reckless money printing causing a lack of funding to pay for police, you will be defending yourself with a pepper spray right (oh wait that requires registration in DC, lol)

He clearly was saying surging agents to process asylum seekers.
And guess what? Very few immigrants qualify for that.

If it takes a few years to go to before an immigration judge, and you're released in the meantime, and can easily disappear before the hearing, does it matter if you qualify?

So what do you want catch and release replaced with?
What do you want to see done?
They stopped coming because we threatened their children. Were you ok with that? It’s about the only thing that will deter people. So is that what you are voting for?

I want to see an EO stating that Mexico is a safe country and the immediate deportation of anyone entering illegally through Mexico regardless of asylum claims

That doesn’t stop them from coming.
They will still come.

17 billion is nothing in the grand scheme.
We need more court space. More judges. More clerks.
More agents
More of everything. Exponentially more.
And republicans can’t wait to fund it!
Psych.

You are trying to spin. And, failing completely.

During the debate here are his exact words:

“I would in fact make sure that there is, that we immediately surge to the border — all those people are seeking asylum. They deserve to be heard,” Biden said. “That’s who we are. We’re a nation that says, ‘If you want to flee and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come.’ “

I’ve watched it. It’s clear he’s jumbling talking points. And he is clearly specifically talking about asylum seekers. Which most entering through Mexico are not. Try again.

South Americans and people from the Guatemala and El Salvador have learned to claim asylum. It doesn't matter if they are qualified or not, just that they make the claim

And then they eventually get kicked out.

Do they? They have years before the hearing and then they become undocumented when they either no show or just ignore the results.

Then be sure to vote for people who will approve the spending that it requires to hire people needed to process them quickly. Ask yourself why won’t the GOP support that? Because they benefit from the crisis.

CBP has a $17 Billion budget and tons of feds and contractors and can’t figure out how to process and adjudicate immigrants efficiently. Maybe we should hire immigrants to process the immigrants.

To process and deport you have to have an administrative state. That means spending.
That doesn’t jive with small government.

For those of you for whom the border is the most important issue:

Did Trump fix it? If yes, was his job to simply fix immigration while he was in office, or to develop a long-lasting solution that could persist during subsequent administrations?

Mayorkas promised to deport people who entered illegally when Title 42 expired by using Title 8.
They aren't doing that.

They are told they don't qualify and to leave, but most of them don't.
