You dress him and you change all the diapers. Problem solved!

Plus do all the laundry. My mother “helped” me the first 5 months both babies. She loved doing laundry and was great at removing stains. It was not practical for a sleep deprived working adults and once my maternity leaves ended and she returned home, my girls were in rompers and onesies.

1000% team wife here. Like OP’s wife after I dressed my newborn in pants the first time I made the decision to only do rompers until basically 6 months because I felt the elastic looked SO uncomfortable and I thought it would cause digestive issues.

I think OP is nuts and callous towards his newborn. The baby’s comfort is so much more important than wasted clothes the baby would have grown out of after 2-3 wears, anyway.

Some of this might be depression or just survival. I absolutely loved the “cute” aspects of having a baby and I clung to that when things were hard. Baby screams for hours at night? Hey at least she’s dressed adorably and I enjoyed being in her decorated nursery. If my Dh put her in something ugly I would change her. Even now I appreciate my older kids dressed well. Dh was really bad back then about not knowing how to dress little kids. Like she’d go to daycare with clothes on backwards, mismatched and half pj half clothes. We all have things we like.
