If I could do it again, I would choose another school. You need to have rigor for college but rigor at our school means you are doomed to have a B on your report card. Rigor at the joke school means straight As with an honors tag. Same result or better from the joke school and better quality of life.

Every year at this time of year, people at your school complain about admissions and then in the spring, surprise!, it all works out.
But really, the “joke” school?

We chose a school that we expected would be balanced...sports, academics, quality of life, for a HS student that values that. Its has been a lot more work than we expected, with teachers giving quizzes with one day notice on top of several hours of hw from other classes. It's not everyday but it is often enough that we haven't been able to get into a workable groove or consistently score well (sometimes even passing) on tests. Also a straight A middle school student. Hoping things even out but losing hope.
We...? untether yourself from your child, land the helicopter, and things will get better, trust

Some teachers grade really harshly at the beginning of 9th to make a point.
Why??? Isn’t this when it starts to matter?
