This is the stupidity of youth soccer today. The thought that Arlington should travel to a tournament in NC to play two other teams from Northern Virginia.
The east coast premier cup that’s in question coming up is being played in Loudoun county?
My bad—thought they were referencing the prior tournament.

Not as much fire in pay-to-play--hardly anyone has to suffer just to play with a patch on their shirt. The parents just pay, and they play.

Kids also have to win. DD was too team with a large NOVA team that always lose because they focused overboard on passing. Never shooting never winning just passing. She had it - she was like 90 min practices 3x a week and all we do is lose. Switched clubs and looooves to play now. Doesn't win every game but also doesn't only play kick ball but she's actually allowed to try to score. At least your head is in the right space. I think a lot of clubs don’t have the patience due to the typical win now mentality. Families associate development with winning and while winning matches is A goal it’s not the ONLY goal. You can see in this forum alone there’s a lot weighed in on winning now even at this young age. Training teams and players to play a possession based game takes time and mistakes along the way. But as they say, failure is the mother to success.

Our club is at least training for possession-based play. Whether U13s can implement, remains to be seen, but hoping that they get there. They may not win many games this year, but probably better for development in the long run.

So which clubs around here or somewhere else are not playing direct style? Is that more of a club policy?
