I loved Cambodia more that I expected and wish I had budgeted more time there (it was a 4 day side trip from Thailand).
Lake Atitlan, Guatemala was fabulous, but every backpacker visiting Central America has been there and will say the same.
How can you say Turkey is "underrated"? It is the 6th most visited country in the WORLD!
1. France - 90.0 million
2. Spain - 83.7 million
3. United States - 79.3 million
4. China - 65.7 million
5. Italy - 64.5 million
6. Turkey - 51.2 million

IDK.. I don't think I like the idea of spending my money in a country where women are second class citizens. Just doesn't feel right to me.
that sentiment applies to about half of the US as well since the dreadful SC decision last year

French food. 45 minutes from a major airport. 90 minutes from the heart of the French Alps. And yet I have met very few Americans or even Brits who have ever heard of it.

I love Istanbul with my whole heart and would love love love to go back. I agree it’s underrated but I don’t want it to become more on the radar to Americans.
Istanbul is one of the top ten most visited cities in the world. Hardly what I would consider "under-rated"

Interesting. I lived and worked there for a couple of years and didn't find it to be all that. What did you do and see there that was so good?
