The question is if you don't use housekeeping do you still tip. No, because we aren't using the service. Never use bellboys or other staff either.

Same. This was not a thing where/when I grew up and I don't even think about it.


Same where I grew up (in another country). It’s a hotel service that is included in the price. I would no more tip for this than I would go into the kitchen of a restaurant and start handing tips out to chefs. I assume that hotel maids and restaurant chefs are paid a salary.


Try making out a budget that allows you to live on $15/hour ($30,000/year) in any US city, then tell me why you think tipping those in the service industry is unnecessary.

I always tip and I usually put a note with it that says "For Housekeeping"
