I'm a happily married woman with a healthy libido and I watch porn. Have since I was a kid and used to sneak looking at and reading material from BOTH my older brother and older sister's rooms... Playboy, Playgirl, etc. Please spare me your pre conceived assumptions over porn. Most people including women watch porn. There are now women run porn production companies (which is great because finally there are videos with hotter men!)
I also work in a field where I have a government issued work license. The concept of having to upload my driver's license to watch porn knowing full well that those companies used for ID verification WILL be breached... Oh heck no, I'm reconsidering moving to VA. MD is looking better.
All pornography exploits women. How disgusting you support this!
Over 70 percent of adult women and 95% of men "support" porn, as in watch it.
There's also a ton of amateur porn out there, as in, adult women voluntarily putting it out there on their own, married couples, etc.
Most of the people you know - including most of the women - watch porn. Most won't admit it, particularly the women who sadly even have stigma for even admitting they m*sturbate at all.
I have friends who make comments similar to you while they assume I don't watch and agree with them. I just button my lips and smile and nod. The same friends make comments about how they were never that into sex. Well....
Can pornography be exploitative? Yes, absolutely. Is all of it? No.
In addition, female produced porn made FOR WOMEN is becoming increasingly popular. See Bellesa films, owned by a woman, production geared toward women's porn preferences.
Porn is no more exploitative than any other kind of physical labor like working on oil fields or power lines. But we only shame women for making a living with their bodies. It’s bullshit.
I’m a woman and a porn consumer. I respect the women whose work I enjoy. They are adults and they don’t need me to nanny or judge them.

Anonymous wrote:Alternative idea: Porn websites have kiosks where one goes and shows ID similar to a porn store or liquor store purchase. ID is not stored anywhere, but in exchange, one gets a code they can use to access the website which stays active for like 5-10 years.

So the idea that you will not be able to watch porn is ridiculous. And if you don’t use a VPN you are an idiot especially when surfing porn.
VPN doesn’t work. Just tried it
I read a reddit post from a guy in NYC who got blocked because somehow his internet goes through Virginia... Perhaps the same happened to you?
Also noting that there are a few other southern states with this law so you may have to be careful about where your VPN is router.
Actually seems that without using a VPN his geolocation is sometimes identified as Ashburn and my rudimentary understanding is that there's a lot of internet data that goes through storage facilities in Ashburn. At any rate, seems the impact is potentially more widespread than state residents depending on wifi.
Presumably this makes it ripe for a lawsuit. Interstate commerce and all that.
Good luck. Sportsbooks and online casinos have, for many years, been relying on presumably similar methods for correctly identifying the state where someone is located (and preventing the use of VPNs to disguise that), and I haven't heard of any lawsuits successfully challenging them on this.
There is nothing in the Constitution explicitly protecting gambling. Porn is protected by the First Amendment. Obscenity is not, of course, but porn is. It could be framed as a free speech issue.
The conservatives on SCOTUS do not agree with you. They would not over rule a republican governor.

It is so accessible online. Teen p**n usage is way up over when we were kids. Please educate yourself. This law is a good thing for kids.
A group of 8 boys were busted using their Chromebooks & document share for porn. They put the photos and vids in a shared doc for months. No parent or school admin would have been any wiser if one boys brother hadn’t ratted him out when he got upset with him.
This was on school issued machines. If kids want to see porn they will find a way.
Genuinely curious, how do we know teen p*rn usage is way up vs just that they are using a different medium than previously for p*rn? Now it's on the internet but growing up you could find magazines or women's erotica either in your older sibling's or parent's stash or at the bookstore. It wasn't difficult for me, a girl growing up in the 80s/90s, to snoop and find it.
