The worst possible deaths, and ones that I can't shake, are the Twin Towers jumpers from 9-11. I can't imagine the horror they must have felt having to choose between fire/burning alive and jumping from those heights. 22 years later and it still breaks my heart.

Burning, drowning, and falling. All allow a long period of fear and pain.

The person last week who fell in the Grand Canyon is what I would hate. About a minute of falling with no way to stop and just terror as the ground approaches.

I’ve seen both. The goodbye is not worth the suffering IMO. Make sure the people you love know it. I take great comfort in the fact that my loved one never had to fear their death, mourn their own passing and losses and worry about us.

The suffering also lasts way longer than the time it takes to say goodbye. My mom didn't even know who her family was the last 3 weeks but she was definitely suffering.

Burned to death.

Avalanche - most people are buried alive, immobilized, and conscious of their impending death. You're trying to conserve air, so you wouldn't dare scream. If you get lucky, you get stuck in an air pocket and that hopefully gives your rescuers more time to find you.
