I bought FedAdvantage and had a claim when they were with MetLife - went very well. They go through The Standard now, offer less benefits, and require you to exhaust leave. It's basically a supplement to get you to fed disability retirement as the LTD policy is designed to kick you off after 2 years.

OP, if you need STD and have none at the moment, isn't it too late? They might give you a policy if you apply now, but it will have riders galore.
