They oppose multicultural education, which includes baseline education of cultural and religious differences.

I think there's a big difference between "Muslim families" (which she didn't say) and "some Muslim families," and I don't think there's much difference at all between a Christian-nationalist group and a white-supremacist group.

Moms for Liberty has consistently argued against fact-based teaching of the civil rights movement, and so-called "critical race theory," which they have defined as any teaching that does not center white male slaveholders in our discussion of US history.

They oppose multicultural education, which includes baseline education of cultural and religious differences.

DP. I watched Mink's testimony twice and did not find her to be spreading hate or discord. She had been speaking directly with protesters and acknowledged their concerns, but ultimately concluded that their position that opting out wouldn't cause harm to anyone wasn't valid.

Mink labeled Muslim children as linked to white supremacists. That’s not okay. At all.

She has also referred to police as thugs and goons in the past, and frequently has called for defunding. That’s not a good look for a council member on the public safety committee. I’d go so far as to say that’s a reason she should be removed from that committee. She has also suggested white women shouldn’t have leadership roles and that they should not be provided a voice.

She has a problem with lumping people together and then labeling. She represents a wide, diverse area. That area contains Muslims, officers, and white women. It’s hard to represent people’s interests while simultaneously slandering them.

She causes harm. The children that day were saying they want to be opted out, not that they want to remove books. That causes a heck of a lot less harm than Mink’s statements do.

Oh the irony. You conveniently didn't include the rest of her sentence: "...however, the folks who I've talked with today I would not put in the same category as those folks."

She continues: "Although, it's again complicated because they're falling on the same side of this particular issue." The issue she is speaking about is the opting out of LGBTQ-inclusive texts.

There is nuance here, a lot more than is being exhibited by most DCUM posters.

The rest of the statement means very little to me. It’s simply backpedaling. I’m guessing she knew exactly how bad her first statement was the second she said it. Saying the people - she talked to - don’t fit that statement doesn’t exempt the fact she still insulted “some” Muslim families. You claim nuance. I say it was bad word choice that shows (again) bias from an elected official.

I don’t understand why Mink gets so many passes. If she wants to be an activist, then be one. If you want to be an elected official, the represent your county. I don’t believe she can do both simultaneously.
