It's the videos and photos of oozing yolk over everything. It's just gross. On the rare occasion I get poached eggs, I just quickly eat them as a side item with toast. I don't poke them so the yolk oozes all over my entree.

I love runny yolks but hate chicken thighs and marbled cuts of beef. To each their own. It’s ok.

Same.

When I'm with someone who's eating something with a runny yolk, I have to avert my eyes.

it's not a trend, it's how eggs have always been eating. fears over salmonella are a new thing. eat good eggs don't worry.

With the Advent of fire we don't need to eat raw eggs

With the advent of refrigeration, we don't need to overcook eggs either.

No idea how they came up with this, but this site suggests that about 2/3 like runny eggs and about 1/3 like hard eggs. This also seems to fit with the response pattern on this thread.

When I eat hard boiled eggs, I will eat the whites and toss the yolk ball. Hard egg yolks are only good for egg salad and deviled eggs. Otherwise, they're just for the compost bin.

EWWWWW, what?? You only eat the bland, slimy whites? With no nutritional content or flavor whatsoever? Why even go to the trouble of hardboiling eggs???
LOL - the only part with actual flavor.

Egg yolf = "nature's condiment", per my husband.
I actually agree - add an egg yolk to everything!

We loved when we lived in Europe - you would order pasta carbonara and they would bring the yolk to the table so you could mix it in yourself. My favorite restaurant actually served in in the egg shell. It was delicious!!

Anonymous wrote:I like my scrambled eggs soft and a bit wet. To accomplish this, I are sure to take the pan off the stovetop when even I still think they are a little underdone, keeping in mind the heat of the pan will keep cooking them even in the short time it takes me to swing the pan over towards the counter and slide the eggs onto my plate.

I do not like scrambled eggs in hotel buffets — always overdone and rubbery.

You are my soul sister. We should get breakfast some time, at one of our homes, as I 100% agree about never eating hotel buffet scrambled eggs, or really at any restaurant.
