You know you don't have to go.

Right?
Yes. All satire and silliness.
We are tired parents whose kids have been through so much these last four years, just like everyone else. Most of us don’t actually eat at Michelin-starred restaurants, or even know where the closest one is located.
We needed to lighten the mood when our kids were crying at 7:30 this morning after arriving at Whitman only to be told they had to leave.
Of course it’s not the fault of MCPS or Whitman admin. They’re doing the best they can, just as they’ve done for the last four years. They’re rock stars.
Thank goodness graduation will be at 6 pm. We want to finally close this chapter and move on.

Code Red, unless there was a special patch of high-quality air just over Whitman HS.

I thought MCPS had graduations at DAR Constitution Hall. I didn’t think they ever were outside for high school.
MCPS used to have graduations at DAR Constitution Hall, the Xfinity Center, and Mount St. Mary's University. Then came covid. Now some high schools have graduation in their stadiums.
And they don't use Xfinity anymore, they go to UMBC instead. See the whole list of locations here:
https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/info/graduation/
UMBC?! Good grief. That's even further away than Xfinity.
I'd rather drive up to UMBC than DC.
RM is having it up at UMBC. There was a survey of where to have it, indoor/outdoor, etc. I'm glad we get to have ours indoors. Cooler, and now with the air issue, we don't have to worry about air quality outside.
Xfinity is at UMD in College Park.
from RM to xfinity is 43min
from RM to UMBC is 50 min
A whopping 7 min diff. CP may be closer, but the traffic to CP is horrible, especially with the purple line construction going on. My kid is going to UMDCP.
And someone pointed out that xfinity is too expensive.
Only if you take the ICC. Otherwise it's 40 minutes by car to Xfinity vs. 60 minutes by car to UMBC. Which is a long way to drive for a high school graduation.
ok, yea, I would take the ICC, but is an extra 20min one way for this *one* time that much of a big deal? I'd rather fight the traffic going north than through 495 to CP.
Xfinity is too far. UMBC is even more too far.
