DP. I'm 40. When people say that high school kids don't live in the real world, it seems like they are referring to the fact that high school kids don't know how hard it is to earn money. If you're talking about romantic pairings and dealing with what others think, the adult world is *much* better than freaking high school. It's way easier to deal with getting crap about something as an adult.

I think I posted something similar in another thread, but I think it is great if girls don't want to shave. I teach college, and so many don't.

I think a lot of people are threatened by young women bucking the norms they've never even thought twice about.

FWIW, though, I am not totally in love with the armpit hair. I rarely shave my legs, but I go at my pits every day.

So do my husband and son...they cannot stand underarm hair.

It just feels uncomfortable to me, but that's me.

Let the girls be...they will be FINE!!!

My 15 yo only does it in the summer. She lets it grow in the winter and by seeing the legs of many of her friends when they spend the night, most are doing similar (or not shaving at all).

Well good news: women who don't shave are not yetis, just like men who don't shave. And plenty of men are just fine with their partners not shaving, so these girls who want male romantic partners someday are not doomed. But I know a lot of people on this thread won't believe me because they cannot fathom the idea that somebody might think differently than they do.

I totally agree. DD has very obviously hairy legs and pits and she doesn't hide them. She doesn't even think about it and I am positive she gives not one single f**k about who finds it attractive and who does not. I shave every day because I cannot stand the feeling of hair on my legs and prefer the way it looks on me. I also wouldn't be caught dead in some of the clothes she wears, and I'm sure she thinks the same thing about the clothes I wear.
