I disagree. Most teachers aren't that bright. A lot are quite dull. Some are scarily woke and peddle misinformation in the name of truth and justice. A few are excellent. This is what parents found out during the pandemic and remote learning.

On the whole I imagine the current pay scale to be fairly fair for teachers.

Agreed! New generation teachers are woke and plain lazy; cannot handle anything nor even themselves. Too much self-esteem drama and gender confusion.

I was a technology director at a small but national non-profit. $140k in DC. I worked 40+ hours a week mostly, but my team and I were available 24/7 when needed (we worked hard not to be, and I made sure they took comp time when they were). We did not want to be constantly working 50 or 60 hours a week - there wasn't more to come from more hours on the whole over a year.

Now I am a stay at home parent, while my partner works 70 hours a week as a political appointment for the feds.

How did you get into this? I’d love to be a recruiter and am former biglaw with lots of GC/partner connections remaining and had been thinking about it.

Best advice I have is to start emailing a bunch of different recruiters and ask to set up a time to chat about the industry and go from there.

48, independent business application consulting, completely remote. Hourly rate ranges $135-$150 depending on the client, duration of project, etc. Flexible hours anywhere from 25-35 a week.

Sustainability at a tech company. 35-50 hours a week (depends on time of year) with a salary of $310K. Big yearly pay increases and great perks. 100% remote. I go to SF once a year and usually travel to company meetings once or twice a year. I’ve been in my current role for just over a year and will either stay put for 5-6 years until my boss retires and I can take their role or I’ll jump ship in the next few years if the opportunity is right.

$345k, in house attorney. 30-44 hours per week, 100% remote except quarterly in person meetings. 12 years of experience. Bonus around 10%.

Waiter. I work 20 hours a week and make ca $600 a week. I take about 4 months off a year.

Yes NBCT factors in - an extra $13,000 added to our salary (new MD state initiative).

PP again ... and in 5 more years, if I redo NBCT, supposedly the state of MD will add on another $8,000 on top of the $13,000, and another $7,000 five years after that. I'm probably not working 10 more years, though, but I'd love to earn at least $150,000 by the year I retire.
