No. I think sports awards go into the activities section

I never describe it as a national award the way people do on DCUM. But I suspect when people talk about “national awards” they mean something like that.

I agree that people here use the phrase very, very loosely.

Same as gymnastics. USAIGC and YMCA, which are different from JO, have their own nationals that are not sanctioned by USA Gymnastics.

I know some girls who won the 1st~3rd place and described it as a “national award.” I guess they could added it in the activity section?

I'm the poster whose kid got the language award at summer immersion. She also got selected for NSLI-Y and we had zero doubt calling that a National award. So, I would agree with this.

Her classmates were college students from all over the US so it's kinda odd to deem this a school-level award but I'm also dubious about calling this a national award. I would appreciate any suggestions to help clarify what's a good level to categorize this award on common app. TIA!

I would call this a school award. It was not nationally competitive to take this program. They must suspect your judgement and credibility if you list this as national. It’s impressive in its truth.

It is a school award. While the program takes kids from all over the country, it is not a nationwide award. Please know that it is still impressive!!

Thanks!!
