I think my school counselor cross listed this article for my Junior’s college list. More than half of his list is included. I hope he looks beyond aesthetics.

Georgetown? It’s gorgeous.

Lol. You must have only seen Healy Lawn. Georgetown is a dump with no green space and poorly maintained buildings.

It's just generic East Coast/Mid-Atlantic college buildings. Could be anywhere in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, or North Carolina.
It looks a bit like the University of Mary Washington in Virginia although UMW is
more appealing.

Some of us love that style of architecture and don't consider it "generic." Classic and timeless, maybe. Agree about UMW.

I agree. It is a great looking campus for a such a large school and the brick buildings bring a nice consistency across styles. I prefer it to Michigan (except for UM's beautiful law school). The site's description below reads as possibly a little racist too considering College Park's location. A "need for high security" is excessive.

"Similar to many other campuses on our list, College Park is a brick wonderland. Its unfortunate Georgian aesthetic choice is the main reason this school gets on the list. With its cold, rigid architecture and need for high security, College Park leaves a lot to be desired."

I noticed this, too. I actually like the look of the UMDCP campus. It feels comfortable.

I'm a Virginian, but have always thought UMDCP was very attractive:

Reminds me of a farm with multiple big red barns.

I think it's so pretty and classic. Reminds me a bit of Mary Washington, another one of my favorite campuses.

Harvey Mudd

Goes to show STEM smarts are not everything - there is a lot to be said for sense of aesthetic beauty and style …

Towson isn’t bad! The main historical building makes great pictures and there is a new state of the art science building that has opened since this article published.
