This is a change from 2019 and I don’t want anyone to forget it. In 2019 they did not have the qualified voter caveat and Omeish got a ton of people who couldn’t vote in the regular election to vote for her in the FCDC sample ballot process. They did change their rules as a result but that doesn’t change the fact that largely based on their endorsement she won.
Since 2019, FCDC has kicked out lifelong Dems, and did not allow anyone to join who was critical of the school board. They are in an echo chamber and further radicalizing. The ones left to sign a petition to endorse candidates are fringe left. Their only hope is to paint opposition as a extreme right wing.
Go away, troll. There is not a single "fringe" left candidate on the board. The current dem supported candidates are not even close to far left. Omeish is reviled by everyone, including the dems, and including the actual far left. The current SB is only far left if you are the type who would prefer Confederate candidates, which is, sadly, the other option.

I'm the OP-and I actually agree. I do think that people interject crap about the SB in threads that have nothing to do with the SB. And I'm over the whole Covid closure stuff. BUT-I do want to understand how this whole process works because I am concerned about the current state of affairs. My biggest worry is that we will either have status quo or swing the other direction (school choice/vouchers, censorship). I really wish candidates were not affiliated with parties at all.

Sorry you don’t like the democratic process (I thought the Rs were the threat to democracy???) but i appreciated the actual electoral information provided in this post. I didn’t know about Henri prior to this post. Does anyone know anything about him? I actually just realized why he looks familiar to me. I participated in a school thing with him and I actually liked the feedback he provided there. I’ll try to speak to him if he attends again.

I am also not sure about the no. The last I checked her website said if she wins the D Nom for house she won’t run for school board. That led me to believe if she didn’t win the D Nom for house she would run for school board.

Yeah, it probably depends on if the FCDP has already endorsed a candidate in Springfield or if not, if they are confident behind someone else who’s not LJC. I think it could be theoretically possible she loses the primary for a VA house seat but still has enough time to run for SB again after.
It was bad enough when Frisch ran after losing a primary for a special election to the House of Delegates. It would take a particular brand of chutzpah for run for SB after losing a primary for a general election, especially if someone else in the district had already expressed an interest in the Democratic endorsement for SB.

They aren't good people, and rather than slink into oblivion as they should some of them want promotions. That won't give anyone an aneurysm, just some nausea if they get away with it.
