I think Coldplay is pretty boring [now], but Chris Martin is clearly a genius with a 20 year career.

John Mayer seems to be a genius too.

+1 for Chris Martin. He did a good 60 minutes interview about his music. He immediately jumped to mind for prodigy

Lead singer of Panic at the Disco. For his finale when I saw him he did Bohemian Rhapsody. Not his song.

But he started singing, then he moved did the piano piece, on to guitar, on to drums on to bass then he did a back flip off stage all while singing. He can play like 25 instruments

For about a decade, then he nosedived.

The question is who are true prodigies - not who was popular. If you know his story then you know he was a prodigy for sure. He was playing piano as a toddler and could play nearly every instrument, very, very well. He's created so much music no one could keep up with it - there's so much of his music that we haven't even heard yet.

And Prince, like Stevie, has songs where he both wrote the song and played all of the instruments, in addition to singing the vocals.

I said what I said.

Why?. Prince or Stevie are way more talented

I’d consider Prince and Stevie prodigies as well, but R. Kelly is incredibly talented as a singer, writer, producer. He was (deservedly) canceled but anything he touched was a guaranteed hit. And his voice is gorgeous - listen to I Believe I Can Fly or When a Woman Loves. Just beautiful.

And what a waste.

Yes. "A highly talented child or youth."

Watch the documentary.

Wasn't her producer first husband the genius? Not saying she's talentless - obviously a great voice and very pretty - but I would assume a documentary about her isn't going to give a genius producer husband turned scumbag cheater most of the credit.

When pp mentioned Composer John Williams, I thought of Songwriter, composer Paul Williams, who also could be considered a prodigy. (I’m dating myself I know) wrote many hits
