No one fails in these courses. Colleges love them because the cost of instruction is very little (no lab equipment, etc.) and it gives them guaranteed income since students who dropped out of more difficult and worthwhile majors stay at the school instead of dropping out altogether.

They also happen to be the most popular majors, so colleges are graduating boatloads of these majors with no future prospects. Look at the distribution of majors in post universities - these useless majors largely dominate. Meanwhile STEM degrees cull students due to lack of professors.

Public universities should focus on the public utility, not activist struggle sessions and ego-stroking for professors (who themselves went to SLACs and private universities). A single STEM professor hired is worth the investment in 10 professors in these worthless majors.

Note that I didn't list out degrees in Education, Psychology etc., because while they tend to also be on the easy side, they provide valuable training for society. Psychology majors go into counseling and Education majors go into K-12 teaching (although these days they need to get masters and certification in many states).

You really don't understand the concept of education or these majors. They develop critical thinking and writing skills. They helpd students develop perspectives of issues that may challenge their own. That is worthwhile. Education does not mean job training or trade school. BTW, students fail humanities course all the time. I am a professor and enter the grades!

People go to college so they can get a decent job that pays $$. No, a degree in gender studies or AA studies is a waste of money. People in the real world want college to prepare themselves for work in a particular field. Leaning how to "develop perspectives" is not a good deal for 1/4 mil $.

If you want to go to med school, you have to get an undergraduate degree (with few exceptions). Apparently perfectly good schools don't think her gender studies degree is one "of the worst majors out there".
