Goodness, it’s likely not that deep. I know it’s a dumb comment, but people are probably just making conversation. Or they’re grasping at the first thing they can think of that isn’t, “Wow, you have too many kids and don’t give a fig for the environment.”

It’s funny how you confuse why our great grandparents had big families and now it’s frowned upon.

It was a different life then. In the old times the survival rate for children was a lot lower. Maybe half of them survived. Kids were expected to work. Older kids had to raise younger kids while parents worked. People lived in bigger families, with extended relatives. Also, most importantly, we still had plenty of natural resources.

Now it’s very expensive to have kids, we have nuclear families and no natural resources left.

Most parents don’t have energy and time capacity for more than 3 kids, most can’t afford them either. So most people who have 4+ kids are “winging it” and rely on assistance- free lunches, state sponsored preK, church fund raisers, low income scholarships, etc.

Also, think about how your 6 children will be fighting wars for fresh water very soon. So before having more kids we need to solve the environmental issues?

Who cares? I only have one and do knit give an f what anyone thinks. This is what works for my family.

OP here. Um... I am sure plenty of people do. Like, I judge someone driving a gas guzzler a few blocks instead of walking. I even judge myself like that; "Why am I driving our car when I should be taking the bus? I need to practice what I preach!" I do that allthe time.

But you fly across the country several times a year, redid your kitchen because it's dated, and constantly buy fast fashion.

Spare us your virtual signaling.

Do people over 30 really buy fast fashion? No one that I know.
