Not only did WJLA hide the fact that the police department didn’t follow up on undelivered emails about the arrest, WJLA hasn’t bothered to update the timeline of the case at the bottom of the article. It still has the police chief’s false statement from Friday that the superintendent was notified.

Has Youngkin retracted his statement attacking FCPS? Has he vowed to look into the failure of the police department? Has Miyares launched an investigation to protect the safety of our kids?

The issue is not that they tried to hide the fact. That doesn't appear to be the case at all. The issue is that they rushed out the story about the police sending the emails without waiting for the results of their FOIA request for the emails or for Chesterfield to confirm if the emails did or did not go through

Facts: After the first email bounced back, the Chesterfield Police were aware that emailing was an unreliable method of giving notice. What did they do to ensure notification? They sent another email. When that one came back as undeliverable, they were again put on notice that using email to fulfill their legal obligation was not reliable...it didn't work (2times) and they knew that. What did they do? THE SAME THING despite their experience that email was not getting the job done. THEY had the responsibility. They continued to use a method they knew did not work. They could have sent a letter with delivery notification. It works. There is proof.

Hey, PP -- re: the bold --- is there any link for that? I've been following that case b/c I knew the principal (had 2 kids there) and he was exceptional. I even wrote FCPS a letter of support on his behalf when things were first reported. I have been watching this case in the papers, but nothing has been reported for a long time. What has happened to him? I just felt it was wrong for someone like him to be taken down by a loser like the teacher who ran off to Mexico (or tried to).

I can’t answer that for you I do not know. I found out about the outcome of this case from a friend who works at the Fairfax courthouse and I was just lucky to have that personal contact but anyone can call it’s public knowledge.

Personally I can’t imagine any principal, teacher, etc, in their right mind wanting to come back to FCPS after being thrown out to the wolves like that. Look at what people are saying here about Brabrand not doing anything about the Glasgow counselor right away when it was just proven that the police couldn’t type his email address correctly. Who wants to put up with any of this craziness?

The link just says that the police say they 'notified' FCPS two years ago and that they then called again this June (which is when FCPS took action). It doesn't say there was any verification of the notification.

yes. The police dept. sent an email to FCPS -- well, to whom did they send the alleged email? Was that email address valid? Did the person still work here? Seems to me that a police department shouldn't be relaying this type of information via email with no record of receipt. They should be sending this information by MAIL where there can be a record of it being delivered.

This was my post on this thread on AUG 20 ---> after so many people were jumping to outrageous conclusions about Brabrand.

People need to STOP, THINK, and ASK QUESTIONS. Just because someone somewhere says they must have sent an email doesn't mean the RIGHT PERSON, IN THE RIGHT LOCATION actually RECEIVED the alleged email.
