Np. I am losing 5 pds a month for 3rd month now, trying to ward off early fatty liver signs. Yesterday i was googling it and found lots of scary articles that rapid weight loss can basically damage your liver even further. Anyone on this thread has thought of weight loss in this light? What is considered a "rapid" loss? I am doing about 1500cal a day and not exactly low carb but way lower than i used to eat, and i am starving half the time. Can all this kill my liver?

Super happy with the weight loss, I’m still in the same clothes but they are fitting much better! I’m 5’6.

Hi fellow 40s 5’6” mom! I’m down 34 since May. What’s your target goal? At the moment I’m aiming for 140, which is another 5lbs. But I’m not sure I’m going to be happy there because my weight is not in the same places it was before. So I may reset and aim for 130 after I see what 140 looks like. The 34 lbs only took me down 2 pants sizes, which was surprising until I realized the weight was still just settled around my waist. Last time I weighed 145 I was wearing 6 bottoms, this time it’s an 8.

I also run every day and have worked my way up to 5m a day. I’m working on pace again. I had gotten down to an average sub 11 minute mile, but I got a chest infection a few weeks ago and it’s been rough going. I’m stuck around 13 minutes now and the chest infection is still impacting my asthma so I can’t seem to budge it further.

PP here. I also run about a 13 minute mile! Whatever works. It isn’t a race. I am happy where I am - but open to continue to loose weight. I was 135 in my 20s and thought I looked great but never thought that weight would be attainable again. I would love to see it on the scale again, but I am not going to severely restrict my food intake to get there. I have cut down on snacking, but I still have a handful of skittles whenever I want.

I was a size 8, but still own size 6 stuff, and I find both fit now. 8 is a bit loose. I look good in some size 6 clothes. I’ve always had an hourglass shape, so the weight distribution seems similar to before. I did have a c section and have a slight pooch above that scar but that isn’t going away!

Be gentle and patient with yourself. It is more important that your body heal fully. Maybe add something else - more walking or good stretching or weights.

Fantastic work!

I had to buy new sports bras this week…I momentarily mourned the loss of a couple cup sizes, but it’s a good thing, for sure!

Absolutely sustainable for me. Had to shift to higher protein breakfast like omelette or fruit with Greek yogurt, but it has been very easy…I take more time to do meal planning….and track my macros, avoid mindless snacking. Never felt better…you can do it!

Do you eat NO sugar or just some and if so, how much? Ever have any higher carb days? I struggle with keeping it below 85.

Different poster but I'm also doing low carb-ish and have lost a substantial amount of weight on it and intermittant fasting approach. The only sugar I add to meals is a teaspoon to my morning coffee. I don't really "count" my carbs but I almost never eat pasta or rice anymore and consume limited bread; most of my carbs are from vegetable or dairy and I'd be surprised if I got in the 80s. I substitute mashed cauliflower for potatoes and with other veg mixed in it's pretty nice. I usually eat this with salmon which I love. As long as the food you do eat is delicious, I think you will find you don't miss the carbs that much. I eat a burger and chips most Fridays so that's one weekly "cheat." I don't know what I'll do when I stop trying to lose (if that ever happens!) but I might basically need to mostly stick to this forever with a few adjustments. But because I love the food I do eat, maybe I could. I was never a huge pasta or rice fan to start with, but I might need to work some more breads in to be happy. Good luck!

I was already very active with weights at gym, run, biking, pickleball. I’m surprised at how much weight I’ve lost on a short 4.5 months by implementing more diet and exercise discipline. I guess I didn’t know I was overweight? By 21 lbs? Feeling much healthier and running faster by dropping lbs. why didn’t I do this sooner?

Has anyone yet suggested that OP go to the doctor and check her white blood cell count? That much weight loss with so little change sounds suspicious. Just to be sure, you should get a med screening for cancer.

Umm, no. First, that is not “so little change” - going lo carb and increasing program is a quite significant and impactful change to diet. There is an an entirely different theory about weight loss (other than calories in/out) which hypothesizes that weight gain is a result of carb consumption changes, and that changinv that is what results in weight loss.

Also, Op has increased exercise which helps with weight loss.

And, to put the weight loss in perspective, 20 pounds since March is about 4-5 pounds a month - not anything to worry about given the changes and certainly not likely to be caused by cancer. Good grief!

I'm so sorry about your parent! Please be kind to yourself! It's nearly impossible to focus on your diet when you're traveling and in such circumstances and probably it's not really where you really needed to be, mentally, at that time. Just give yourself some grace about that time and know that you got through it in one piece and that's the most important thing! And now that you're home, YOU CAN BE A WARRIOR AGAIN! I would stop drinking, and go and get it, girl! (Unless you are a man, in which case you should get it from a male perspective ha.)

I'm down to 145 lbs

I'm PP who lost 75 lbs over a year and I'm down 3 more pounds since late July when I posted here (from 180 to 177). That includes a week long vacation where I indulged quite a bit so while it's not a pound a week like I usually aim for it's still a pretty good win for me. Good luck everyone!

Checking in at 173.2 today, so lost another 3-4 pounds over the last several weeks. Had the covid booster last weekend and that could be artificially increasing my results a little, but I'm still on a downward trend. Less than 20 lbs left to get to my goal weight of 155. Is that low enough? I'm 5 ft 7 so it's on the upper end of the "normal" scale but I guess I can look at myself when I get there. I think that was my college weight. Good luck and keep going everyone!

I’m not in my 50s, but 40s, and when I got to my college weight recently, I looked in the mirror and said it wasn’t enough because my weight is in different places than 20 years ago. My initial aim was 148 at 5’6” and I’m thinking I need to take it down to 140, maybe even 135, which is likely months more hard work!

Today I got into a pair of jeans and a cotton shirt I'd not worn since 2017 because they got tight. Today they were loose and looked great. and I was so happy about that.

Congrats and great job!!!
