Don't be angry. Be curious. Ask yourself why the nanny was so irresponsible that she triggered the smoke alarm. Yes, it's on her, but as I said before the husband probably has her walking so much on eggshells that her first thought was that she needed to shut that dog up -- and fast -- for his sake.

I'll bet the dog wasn't scratching and peeing and barking non-stop in the boyfriend's house, because he was treated better there.

Agree idf she has money to send out of the country she has money to take care of her immediate responsibilities.

In all honesty my answer basically boils down to two options:

Either the dog or the Nanny must go.
Oops I mean both.
Wait, what??!

If you truly love your Nanny & think your children would miss her immensely then you would try to make it work.
Either offer to pay for a doggy daycare or maybe your husband can return to his office or at the very least - find another location to work.

If these are not suitable options for you > then the only other option would be to let your Nanny go.

I would try to make things work though.
I wouldn’t want my Nanny to be tempted into relinquishing her beloved pet.
