Last year it varied but many of us were not accepted till a week or two before school started, some after. I got concerned and resubmitted our application. I would resubmit to make sure they get it and call and email a few times. A note from a doctor stating a medical need might also help.
This is why people are confused because there is no clarity on the process nor any of the decisions MCPS makes with respect to any of this. It looks more like circus is in town.
Part of the problem is they don't fully know about numbers as some families, including us are waiting to see what MCPS is going to do in the fall in terms of mitigation/masking/covid safety. I'm assuming at this point MCPS will do nothing but a some families were hoping to return in the fall but holding their spots to decide later on in the summer.
I have no idea what you are talking about. What is the process for VA application? What criteria do they use to accept or reject the applications? When will they notify the parents whether the application is accepted or not? When is the VA orientation?
Any communication on these topics? None so far. All kinds of junk PR communication is being sent out everyday but nothing useful for parents.
Just call them already. They have not announced orientation. No schools have. The process to apply is on their website. You keep asking the same questions no one here can answer. They do answer the phone so one has to wonder if you are just looking for drama. The previous information is on the website and will probably not change much.
You actually are wrong on that one. People have received orientation emails from home schools already. No sure what is going on with VA though
These are paid PR posting discouraging and diverting important information. I guess they get paid per post. So they will keep posting "call them" "email them" information is on website etc. This is just distraction. Keep asking and someone will answer if they receive any info. We understand that MCPS quality of communication and service levels have gone down the drains since past two years. So it is important to stay engaged as a parent and help each other. PR has become nasty now a days.

It was probably already said, but orientation for MS and HS is always the Thursday before school starts. It is for students new to the building (6th, 9th, and new enrollments), runs 1/2 day, and they run the buses. Virtual Academy is obviously new and defining its processes, but I would expect the timing to be similar at least.

I’d also note that MCPS did presentations to the BOE last school year about Virtual. Anyone can look them up.
Do you want parents to go through information that is a year old? How about putting updated information on website for a little transparency?
What do you think has changed in the last year? What is your real agenda? There are no updates right now for any schools so not sure what you are wanting.
No idea. MCPS is a dark box with no transparency now a days. do you know if Virtual Academy will have classes next school year? Some on DCUM say that MCPS may shutdown the VA.
When will MCPS send out Virtual Academy information?
How do you know what is the status of your application?
When will you know whether your child is accepted or not?
What criteria do MCPS uses to accept or reject the Virtual Academy applications?
There are 100's of questions but no answers.
Do not spam asking to call or go to website. There is no one to pickup the phone or return your call. Website is also obselete.
