This is why I'm supporting Finley - better than Frumin on housing and transportation and toe-to-toe with him on education. He's also closer to my age than Cheh's age and I think it's time for a changing of the guard.
I’m a parent at John Eaton, which is located in the ANC that Beau Finley currently chairs. I can say with rather high confidence that Beau Finley couldn’t find Eaton if he had a map. He never expressed interest in education issues until he began his long shot campaign for the Council.
BS. He and Dubois were the only commissioners pushing for a larger renovation to Eaton years ago so that it wouldn't be at capacity so soon. Historic preservationists won out, though, saying any further renovation would be unsightly.
Total disinformatsiya. First, it was the ANC commissioner for the school, Nancy Macwood, who pushed this hard, joining the LSRT planning committees and personally doing the hard work with parents through appropriation. scoping, architect selection, parking arrangements for staff, construction, and lunch list. Just ask former principal Jacqueline Gartrell, who managed the school through the whole process. And speaking of her, Finley and another commissioner aggressively pushed back on her request for just a few more days to comment on traffic diversion to 34th Street and student safety during the ANC’s consideration of reconfiguring Connecticut Avenue. It was shocking, but Principal Gartrell “schooled” them both, no doubt given her career experience dealing with rude juvenile brats. Historic preservation is a total red herring, as DCPS got mayor’s agent approval in a consensual process to remove a less historic wing and build the capacity that DCPS needed on this small site.

Read this: https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/304500/a-national-procharter-school-group-is-flooding-dc-mailboxes-with-campaign-flyers-this-cycle/
It states, "In 2018, Alice Walton, the daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, gave DFER-DC $190,000"
Then this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2022/06/07/dc-school-board-election-contributions/
It states, "The local chapter gets significant cash from big donors across the country, including in 2016 nearly $300,000 from Alice Walton, a daughter of the founder of Walmart and a backer of charter schools."
Then you can look at these and see that all of their money from comes from their (c)4 "Dark Money" organization: https://efiling.ocf.dc.gov/FinancialReports/EntireReport/29516/IECNOF150001_2020%20December%2010th%20Report_%20Original and https://efiling.ocf.dc.gov/FinancialReports/EntireReport/17212/IECNOF150001_2018%20December%2010th%20Report_%20Original
There. That should be laid out enough for you to realize that ... what were we talking about again ... oh yeah, that Goulet is unfit for office and is getting illegal help.
To be fair, it isn't illegal, just unethical, particularly for a "fair election campaign" candidate whose DC donations are being subsidized by DC taxpayers. I am not sure how that loophole can be closed, but it should be.

Why would any DC resident want to support a candidate who openly accepted the support of a right wing organization?
Just to annoy you.
