Can I still take these classes to get my MA+30?

FCPS completed their review and they are going to accept all classes from Idaho State, even after May 13th.

This has become FCPS's problem because the regional accreditation programs don't do what they claim. They are supposed to ensure academic rigor at higher education institutions but clearly gave up any semblance of actual oversight years ago. Google UNC African American Studies department or UGA basketball academic scandal. Each case, the school was clearly offering sham classes to athletes and not providing real education. The accreditation agencies did... nothing. GW nursing school almost lost accreditation a few years ago though. Baylor U, got in hot water for the same thing, but nothing came of it.

FCPS assumed that if a school was accredited, it was a certain level of rigor. They were wrong to trust these agencies and now its made a mess for them. It's the accreditation agencies' problem to fix.

The HR Team is continuing to investigate whether the ISU-College of Education’s Professional Development Academic Transcript is recognized as an official transcript by the ISU Provost and the ISU Office of the Registrar, which are requirements of our regulation and aligns with guidance previously provided to staff.

Because you enrolled in these courses with the belief you would receive full credit, Dr. Brabrand has directed the HR Team to honor those credits in full for all employees enrolled in the ISU- College of Education’s Professional Development programs as of May 13. As a result, your previously submitted additional salary request remains apporved and there will be no change to your current salary.

We are not accepting any new requests from ISU until we complete our investigation. An update will be provided once we complete our review and investigation.

That seems like a reasonable response. Honor the already submitted requests. Shut down any future requests using these sham courses. I can live with that.

Costing taxpayers thousands of years per teacher for fake classes is not reasonable

Try focusing your disgust on things like corporate bailouts and endless tax breaks that never seem to trickle down to the regular workers but instead line the pockets of the 1%.

This, plus the places that accredit some of these programs. Maybe they should be held accountable, as well.

Districts have been forcing teachers to inflate grades for years, it's only fitting teachers get this now.

Wow, our tax money is going to pay teachers for taking this crap. We need a new school board.

It looks like they stopped teachers from getting credit for these courses from this point on. So actually they are being more stringent and effective. Continuing education credits are a part of any licensed profession and are always a part of keeping your license and getting pay raises as you go along. They vary in quality so it's good to see that FCPS is reviewing them to ensure they count.

It just says until further review, they could still end up accepting these classes.

Which means they will probably have to create new classes just to review syllabus and course information etc. I guess regional accreditation agencies can't be trusted anymore.

Sorry I meant to say they will have to create more positions just so people can start reviewing these classes.
