This is really cute! But my question: does the smocked top on dresses like this feel too clingy? I picked up a somewhat similar dress in Hawaii a few years ago and while I like the way it looks, the top made me feel really scrunched and sweaty even though I'm really small-busted.
I'll see when I get it. I'm 32DD and need something stretchy on top.

This is Jersey, which is specifically NOT what op wants.
Read the description before jumping down someone’s throat. It’s 100% cotton. I have this dress in two prints and I can also attest… it is cotton.
It’s COTTON JERSEY. Jersey is typically made from cotton but the type of weave is typically thicker and heavier than voile or poplin or lawn. I never said it wasn’t cotton - I said it is jersey.
Thank you! To the person who keeps saying that this dress is cotton - yes it is! Jersey refers to the type of fabric, not the fiber. Jersey is a fine gauge knit and can be made from a variety of fibers - cotton, silk, wool, polyester. It was how you got stretch in a fabric prior to the invention of fibers like Lycra. T-shirts are cotton jersey. The PP requested non-jersey, meaning a woven fabric, like what would be used for a button down shirt.

Based on this forum, I believe some people wear shorts under dresses to address this.
Thigh Society has great products for this! My thighs don’t touch, but I hate the sweat there when I sit with legs crossed — the shorts i got completely stop that issue and wick moisture nicely. And I love that they aren’t shape wear; they just fit comfortably.

Yep, Southern Mediterranean skin is how I do it. My body needs a decent amount of sun exposure to produce vitamin D.

I’m not usually out and about for hours during prime sunny hours, so that also helps. And, I acclimate to it: I start wearing short sleeves when it’s warm enough, then sleeveless, so over time I get enough sun exposure that I don’t burn easily. I’m white.
I get the theory behind long, loose sleeves, but I sweat a ton and so it’s not feasible for me to wear long sleeves in the summer.

Exactly. What is more protective and cooler is long loose sleeves in cotton or linen. Very difficult to find, however.
