So frantic. Relax.
If you had followed the discussion, you would know that none of this is really about you masking at drop-off.
I followed the discussion just fine. It's about you freaking out that your kid is wearing a mask indoors. You're galvanizing the like-minded folx on the thread (who probably look like you too) to bring stakes to freedom plaza for the mayor and all female council members because they aren't "following the science."
I was just sharing that I'm not the only one who likes the warmth of their own coffee breath at drop-off and pick-up.
Again. So frantic. Relax.

He's been wearing a mask indoors since he was 2...it's the same as socks and shoes to him. But it would be great for him to be able to see the formation of her mouth to form sounds during Phonics, hear clear unmuffled directions, and maybe even see a smile or two for the first time!
Given how little your 4 year old's mask does to protect him, don't you want him to see his friends' faces as well? Don't you think that might add a joy and enrichment to his life that he sadly so far hasn't known?
Friends' smiles are nice and fortunately he sees those smiles outside. Wouldn't quite be accurate though to say an entire class of unvaxxed 4 year olds wearing N95s are receiving no protection in doing so. But that's why I essentially said I was probably alone in my thought that I currently prioritize the academic benefits of having an unmasked teacher over seeing 4 year old smiles.
Have you ever looked at the statistics of the risk Covid poses to your little kid?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I see this is largely a WOTP forum (and thread), but everyone was masked at our Ward 4 drop-off today. I’m concerned that there are so many parents in this city who know that things like outdoor mask-wearing (and in many cases, indoor mask-wearing) are not warranted, and yet go along out of a desire to comply and not be shamed or ostracized by their peers. I get it; being rejected is not fun for anyone.
But what is that teaching our kids? That if you think something is wrong, you should do it anyway because otherwise people might talk about you?

They go outside and take them off and its fine. We're used to dumb rules in DCPS and we follow this one. When its rescinded we will follow the new one. I know this won't change any of the people hot and bothered on this thread and that is fine, because you are incredibly amusing.
My child cares and asks every day if he has to mask.
Well, your child must be a real special snowflake! Just kidding, your child has every right to complain, and the reason most children don't is because they have been indoctrinated by their parents that masks are necessary, that they might otherwise get sick or kill someone, that wearing it without complaint shows that you are a good person, and that "anti-maskers" are bad people.
Or, I should add, they don't complain because they have just gotten used to it and everybody does it at school. My kids don't complain either even though I have never instilled any pro-mask ideology in them, but they sure were thrilled when they could finally unmask at recess this week.
