For those talking about duck-and-cover or "we'll all be burned no matter what" I'd ask you to consider what might happen if a terrorist got just one nuke. Or what might happen if North Korea decides to launch exactly one or two bombs - "duck and cover" can be effective for people far outside the blast radius who might have shattered glass or be in a building as it collapses.

I know this thread was started because of the situation in Ukraine, but it simply isn't accurate to state that any nuclear weapon going off would mean the end of civilization.

+1. The Russians were thought to be behind that gasoline pipeline last year that caused a lot of gas stations to run out of gas. I think that and maybe something with the electric grid would be more likely. They've said the electric grid is vulnerable for years and most Americans don't know what to do without electricity, meaning no internet as well, for more than a few hours.

People won't be able to get goods and services or information, then we'll have anarchy here and people turning on each other which is something Putin would love.
