How are we significantly decreasing the quality of our lives? Hardly anything has changed for the kids except eating inside. Same sports, same friends. If being inside maskless is what you need for a quality life, then I don’t know what to tell you.
You still don’t get it. Totally fine deaf. Your experience doesn’t dictate every else’s.
Yes, humans are not meant to be wearing masks. And eating in a restaurant is something humans have done for centuries.
COVID is never going away. You will get it. A virus is going to virus.
Us getting the virus has had the biggest payoff. We've been living normal since the spring. We definitely aren't getting Omicron. I just feel really sad for people like you. It's like a mental illness.

I've had COVID, my husband had COVID, tons of our friends had COVID, our teenagers had COVID, tons of their friends had COVID. None had Long COVID.
Everyone is going to get COVID at this point. At this point, if you haven't gotten COVID already, it's very surprising.
But these great lengths to avoid COVID are something these hypochondriacs need to do on their own dime, and stop messing up our kids' lives (they aren't affecting adults' lives, considering we go to the gym, restaurants and bars just as in 2019). Thank god we have a new governor stating next weekend who believes kids are more important than a bunch of nutty hypochondriacs' needs to avoid a cold.
None in our family have gotten COVID. Kids play multiple sports (indoors and outdoors), we go to stores, the gym, have friends over. But we have good masks and do not eat indoors. We keep masks on inside stores and the gym. Our kids can wear KN95 masks playing sports competitively and we don't scream that they can't breathe.
We DO have friends who have gotten long COVID. It's not a good situation, you should feel very fortunate to be in your position. It's not reality for everyone.
What a complete waste of time and effort. You are significantly decreasing your quality of life FOR A VIRUS EVERYONE WILL GET because it's never being eradicated. Please make sure to do one of those "I did all the right things" Facebook posts when you do catch COVID.
BTW, I do know people who have died in car wrecks too. That does not keep me from riding in a car (whose risks are higher than a healthy person getting Long COVID).
At this point, my mind is boggled there are healthy people living in our community that don't eat at restaurants and live this crazy "viral avoidance" lifestyle. It's so crazy and what a waste.

Covid is not a cold. Omicron still leads to hospitalizations, even here in Arlington, even for kids. And even in mild cases, even for Omicron, covid goes on to form long covid in 10 to 30+ % of cases, according to Fauci last week. You may be okay with that risk for your kids, and other people’s kids, but not everyone is okay with that level of risk for themselves or their kids. And if a majority of teachers are taken out by the highly transmissible omicron at the same time, there won’t be anyone around to teach, either in person or virtually.
Here come the fear porn people, who think COVID is Ebola. Before vaccines, the infection fatality rate was 00.5%, with a huge skew towards the elderly (1,000x mortality rate of elderly vs. kids).
Long COVID is is 10-30%?!? Haha - there's been over 300M diagnosed cases worldwide. There'd be 30-90M people disabled. I'm sure we would have heard about it.
Studies have shown that hospitalizations of kids are WAY overcounted. Fauci and Walensky reiterated that this week.
Fortunately COVID is a disease that rarely affects children, and almost always the obese and very immunocompromised (the latter of which have problems every flu season). In fact, H1N1 killed more kids on an annual basis than COVID.

Not sure who the APE people are but agree with your second paragraph.
