I am not encouraging DCs to head to Georgetown as I think they are better off elsewhere. I am entitled to that opinion and understand that you disagree and the world spins on.

I explained my position and yet you keep circling back. You need to let go of telling other posters what to post.

Start a thread about why I want to send my kids to a catholic college and write in all day and night if you want.

That's not the point. The point is that this was supposed to be a thread for folks to talk about why they wouldn't want their kids to attend their alma mater. Someone got on this thread who was without question not a Notre Dame graduate and used this thread to bash the Catholic Church.

If I started bashing Judaism by pretending I went to Brandeis and said something stupid that made it clear I wasn't a Brandeis graduate DCUM would be all over me. What's good for the goose . . .

Georgetown. The original post was a graduate that is not excited to send kids to Georgetown. Got it?

Now start a thread about sending your kids to Georgetown or Notre Dame or Brandeis or wherever you want and have at it.

Nope. The original poster never said she went to Georgetown, but the one who jumped right in DID say she went to ND. And no thanks, I'll stay right here and respond to anyone who makes excuses for her bigotry.

Swarthmore. Too small and way too much work. Also SJW.

UT Austin. It is just too big. I never made close friends and my college experience was rather lonely and uninspiring. People think at a large school there is such a variety of people everyone will find their people, but I found it to be really hard to make friends. My siblings went to smaller schools and had much more enjoyable college experiences and made lifelong friends.

For the poster requesting more info re Colgate - yes, an outdoorsy person may find some aspects appealing, as there is plentiful hiking, running, cross country skiing or other similar activities. And you are not far from ski resorts and the Adirondacks. But considering that you are on campus 4 or 5 days a week when school is in session, I do not think those activities overcome the negatives and those same activities are available elsewhere. GL.

My child has 2 freshman friends there this year and they both hate it. I know, sample of 2.

What does pre-professional mean?

Heavy focus on pre-med, pre-law etc.

What decade did you go to college?? I went to a Jesuit school in the late 90s and it was nothing like this. Women were at all leadership levels both in the administration and student government.

I think she's talking about the Catholic Church, not her college. She's pissed off that women can't be priests, which I get, but she thinks that because of that women shouldn't go to Catholic colleges.

Many schools would have changed significantly since the DCUM posters attended.
