JFC so many of you Do Not Get It.

VACCINES ALONE AREN'T ENOUGH.

MASKS ALONE AREN'T ENOUGH.

LIMITING GATHERINGS ALONE ISN'T ENOUGH.

We need a MULTILAYERED approach to get rid of this GD disease for good. Vaccines/masks/limiting gatherings all decrease transmission but do not eliminate them entirely. Vaccine passports serve two purposes - keeping people less likely to be safe out of public spaces, AND ALSO encouraging people to get vaccinated so they can go places.

Schools have had vaccine mandates FOREVER. Why the F is this one different? It's just adding one more to the list!

And while we're at it, while I hate folks who are active anti-vaxxers, we have NOT done enough to make vaccines accessible to those who need them most. There is a HUGE gulf between active anti-vaxxers and folks who haven't been able to get one yet. They should be available as walk-ins EVERYWHERE, no online-only booking systems, no forms if you don't want to. There should be a county service you can call (not only book online) and someone will come to your house to vaccinate you if you are disabled. Paid time off to get them, and paid time off for recovery if you have a bad reaction. Shoot just effing pay people to get them! These policies would drastically reduce disparities in vaccine rates among different racial groups and financial classes. And if you scoff at these ideas and think "everybody has internet access/paid time off, it's already easy enough" wow do you need to look outside your effing bubble.

Or, you know, you can keep on believing that seat belts are good enough so you don't need to stop for lights any more. Problem is, you risk the rest of us, too, when you do this.

I am so against this. I will absolutely drive up to Frederick for restaurants/bars. Already, they have no mask mandate. I’m vaccinated, but he shouldn’t underestimate how much people will dislike this kind of crazy BS.


Actually I know a lot of people myself included who think the opposite. We've stopped going to Frederick stores and restaurants because barely anyone in these establishments, including workers wear masks. I was just at Weis and Home Goods at Mt. Airy 3 weeks ago and I was seriously uncomfortable.

Why do you need to control what everyone else is doing? Even if every other person in that Home Goods had Covid, you are covered because you are masked and vaccinated.

You can’t control what other people do. You can only control your own behavior and how you react.


You are correct about being in control. As I've said, I decided to no longer patronize these establishments and others that clearly lack concern about this virus. There's also something very off-putting about their customers as they walk around indoors maskless without a care in the world. I'm only 15 minutes away from Frederick but it feels like thousands of miles away when I'm there.


How do you determine who is adequately ‘concerned’ about the virus?

I mean, I’m vaccinated, so I’m pretty comfortable being unmasked. I’m concerned about the virus but not terrified.

You are judging others for making a different risk-assessment than you. You are assuming that because I’m not masked, I’m not concerned. That’s incorrect. I wear a mask religiously at work and want a break from it at other times.

Most of us are concerned. Some of us never leave the house. Some of us are flying to Costa Rica. The people not wearing masks at Home Goods have just made a different risk assessment than you.

My aunt is dying of pancreatic cancer. The Medicare hospice nurse came in with mask under nose, and asked me and the hospice coordinator if my aunt had a positive test because we were ‘all masked up’. I asked her if she was aware my aunt’s actual diagnosis.

The cluelessness in our govt system is appalling

MoCo isn’t Frederick. Most everyone here is vaccinated and most people wear masks and mandates will make little difference.

What’s quite funny and ironic is that the purpose of the passport, as stated by Elrich himself, is to facilitate people to safely not wear masks indoors. So if someone equates wearing masks with safety, once the vaccine passport is implemented the pressure will be to completely remove indoor mask mandates and rightly so.

Exactly. I am not a part of the "we". SO presumptive to think one can talk for all. And no...I'm not a trumper either...just a regular dude who can see and read on my own. I believe in the vax, but stop short in forcing people to show any type of status. And as stated above, if you believe in showing vax status, you should believe in voter ID. Just like this virus can effect all of us...so can voting in an election, as we all have seen first hand.

Our country has a history of violating minority rights..that's why people are nervous about the ids. But,you are probably a White dude and never had any problems, right?


An excellent argument to be made that vaccine passports will disproportionately affect minorities, especially blacks. Especially poorer blacks.
