Most people who don’t want to “have” to shoot people don’t take a gun they can’t legally own and seek out skirmishes amongst people who are in the streets at night, in violation of a citywide curfew. He decided to put himself in the thick of confrontations with other people who were breaking the law. People died as a result of his actions (as well as their own, of course). He’s not a kid who made “a” mistake. He had terrible judgment then and there’s no indication that he has better judgment now.
