Getting a car broken into in Gtown with stuff left inside does not seem particularly unlikely.
Agree; this was her fault.
And the so-called suspects are from under-resourced communities. OP needs to check her white privilege.

WTF. This is the reason the country is going to hell in a handbasket.
If a group of black or white or purple people commit a series of crimes, I wish everyone would call it as it is.
+1. And I’m not a trumpian.
Yeah, right.![]()
Racist.

Our rental was the victim of a smash and grab. My husbands backpack was stolen with my laptop and car keys for my vehicle back west. Also sentimental Christmas presents. One of the lovely members of the neighborhood was able to orient me to another neighbor who had a camera. The sight line was directly across the street. I have video of the pretty new model of a navy Mazda 3 hatchback car (sadly can’t clearly see the license plate) and a young man who scopes the car and then calls his friends. They did this in broad daylight around 3:30-4 PM. A really swift move. The guy was thin, looked tall, presumed white with black hair. Had skinny jeans on, a hoody with a pea coat and white sneakers. The video quality is not super clear. When I called for glass repair the man said this I was the fifth call on 12/23/21. I called the police just to submit the information and video I have. I suspect this will continue to happen and know my belongings are gone (I don’t have homeowners/renters insurance) but was curious if there are some internet vigilantes (maybe I watch too much Netflix) that bring the information together. I understand that these incidences are happening because of disparities but we are not affluent—just newlyweds trying to treat ourselves to an appetizer at a nice place.
I'm very sorry that happened, and during the holidays. That really sucks.
I’m almost inclined to believe that this is a troll post because there are signs all over Georgetown warning people about vehicle thefts. But still, it’s pretty pathetic that the city has decided to just give up and accept this crime on an ongoing basis.
Yes, a troll post. Here's why: if you rent a car that gets damaged, you return it to the rental company and they arrange the repair. Absolutely no reason for the renter to go to the glass repair. Nice try, though, Natasha.
