I love Mel and Sue, but I love Noel too.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Is it my imagination or is there less backstory/family stuff this season? I wonder if it is covid-related…
They don't get into backstory/family stuff until the final episode when there's a brief feature of the three finalists.
I think it could be Covid-related, bc previously they would show all contestants with their family, their home, employment, etc. at some point during the season.
Yeah they did do it a lot more on earlier seasons - and it was often awkward and embarrassing. The show changed channels in the UK and production staff so there was a minor reboot of that kind of thing. Thankfully. Also loving Noel.
Noel is surprisingly funny.
He and Matt are both awful. I miss Mel and Sue so much.
NP. I can’t stand Matt. Noel is bad too and only marginally better than Matt. Neither one can compare to Sue and Mel.
Thank you for the validation on this one. I stopped watching for years and couldn't stomach Matt and Noel. I only was able to deal with them by watching the first covid season and theb binging it all backwards to season 1. Only the I could tolerate them. I loved Mel and Sue. I would have them back in a heartbeat.

And Chrystelle's deep fried focaccia? That's why it was raw, it was deep fried, not baked. A good baker would have known right away that it was way too much oil.
I attribute both to nerves and pressure that they didn't think clearly.
The big question is if Chrystelle's focaccia had been perfect, would have she won? Somehow I suspect not. I think Paul really wanted Giuseppe to win. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I do think Paul recognized a level of professionalism in Giuseppe and wanted to reward it. Not even Jurgen had the picture perfect precision that Giuseppe's bakes had.

Crystelle's focaccia didn't bake properly because, as an Italian bread, it owes it's allegiance to Guiseppe.
Love it! I just wish they could have had the usual friends and family party at the end as it feels like they deserved that.

I think there was waaaay too much oil. They kept showing the bread swimming in oil. I don’t think it was “raw” so much as just poached in oil (more like a big dumpling).

Prue is 81, I don’t blame them for filming in a bubble
