Red flags:
- KL was fired from Good Counsel previously for being verbally abusive to the girls
- The parents defend the coaches at all cost (as seen on this thread). They will say things like “All the girls bond together and support each other when he yells at them. It’s like a little support group”. Nope. Sorry. Don’t need my DD to be part of a support group.
- The girls themselves are brainwashed into thinking they deserve these tyrants’ anger. They will say things like “He should yell at us. We deserved it because we made a mistake. We should stop making him mad.”
On the plus side, these are the most technically advanced, driven players DC-MD-VA. And they get results. The team we stayed with is not as advanced, but DD is happy. Gets tons of playing time. Is developing on and off the field and has the freedom to be creative, make mistakes, and grow as a player. We are happy we left. It wasn’t a good fit and was a very dark period in our lives. I don’t wish this on any kid or family and I do feel sorry for those we left behind.
Getting back on topic…..
The word on the street is that KL was not given a renewal at GC or Rush. Hence ending up at a very desperate BSC looking to add a coach to shake things up. I guess he’s shaken things up pretty well so far. LOL.

LOL, he used the f- word. If I had a nickel for every U12 coach in the area who used the F- word, boys and girls, I'd be rich. Oh no, Burke told a young man to "man up". Oh the horror. "Stop being a pussy", ROFL, sounds like Burke was right. This player decided to to make a big deal about nothing and rat him out for trying to hold a young man accountable for his play.
Read that wrong in the article, thought he was talking about the other F- word. Regardless, I'd bet on the player making things up in this case. Too many people around to tolerate that language. Sorry. I also don't think any coaches are actually dumb enough to use that word anymore, but I could be wrong.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Was certainly the correct decision from your standpoint HOWEVER
1. Where you went wrong is your accusation of KL being fired. That is slander since there has been nothing to support that accusation other than here say.
2. "They"? Again, more here say and opinions. Again nobody is held at knife point to stay on a team if they feel it is too much. Have you ever heard of the saying "mentally tough" or "thick skin" or "can take criticism". All of those things are considered excellent qualities when joining the work force when they get older.
3. Brainwashed? "We should stop making making him mad?" This whole point of yours is a complete opinion hit piece as calling a youth coach a "tyrant" is a dead give away.
Instead of casting stones, you should have said KL or Bethesda was not a good fit for our daughter after giving it a try. It may work for some and may not for others. If you are looking for a top level club, get out and find what works best for your DC. Instead, you have chosen to come on an anonymous forum and insult a Club, Coaches, parents and players, all while not even having a child that was ever a FT player at Bethesda. I consider all posts like this low class and cowardly. While I am one of those "parent defenders", I also don't run around this forum and insult other clubs, coaches, parents, or players. Oh, and I do have plenty of opinions but hold myself to higher standard.
Have a good day. I am truly happy your daughter has found the right home as has mine.
It’s “hearsay”. Hopefully with that “thick skin” and “mental toughness” you and your DD have, you can take the correction.
