In theory, there should be no issue with men mentoring attractive younger women, in the same setting as they do for men. Lunches, events, bars, with alcohol.

But, let's not be blind that these close relationships, plus alcohol, can lead to trouble. I had sex with a subordinate, she initiated it. It ended well, but if she had decided it didn't it could have ended very poorly for me (and her).

I am aware of my shortcomings so I do not allow one on one drinks with women. It's my fault, not theirs.

I agree with you and it’s how rumors get started. Two years ago word got to me from a “friend” that my husband was seen in a restaurant with a very attractive younger woman and they seemed to be really enjoying themselves. The young woman was our daughter but I’m sure my “friend” told others and didn’t bother to correct the story.


LOL - before my daughter got married she and my husband would do a monthly father/daughter dinner at a variety of very nice restaurants. My daughter is tall, blond and very striking. The two of them loved to talk about the stares they got and they always had fun with it.

Well, if that's your issue, then you shouldn't be having one-on-one drinks with anyone. Sexual harassment is not only an issue with women or with heterosexual relationships. You should only drink with co-workers in groups, and should limit your drinking to stay in control of your actions. If you are a creep, and are using "metoo as cover/excuse, then please do us all a favor and retire early to an isolated island somewhere.
