How does the violence compare to a Marvel movie?
Bump. Can anyone compare to the Marvel movies...say Avengers Endgame?
Marvel violence is more cartoonish and far less graphic. Squid Game has tons of blood and a good amount of gore, including brains spilled out and organs being removed, with incessant brutal violence throughout. Think 400+ people dead by the end of the series, with most of the deaths shown very graphically. Even though I think it's an excellent and thought-provoking show, there is no way I'm letting any pre-teen watch this.
NP. Not to mention sweaty bathroom stall sex... haven't made it to the BJ scene yet... If you can't see the difference between how graphic this series is vs. marvel then you ARE the problem referred to above. It may be ok for a teenager to handle, but rationalizing this with some BS about your kid being the unicorn 10-11yo who is fine viewing mass murder, organ removal and bathroom stale sex/BJs... just stop. I sincerely hope these are troll posts meant to egg on debate.
I don't remember the bj scene
PP here. I don't actually mind the (relatively brief) sex scenes. Very easy to fast forward through those. But no way to filter out the violence. It's too constant and too intrinsic to the story. And so, so brutal. Anyway, we don't disagree. Either way, not for preteens!

Meh.. Not sure what more needed to be covered that hasn't been shared... subtitles blow, check. great chance for exposure to Korean pop culture... riveting to watch, check...this show seems to be all about the psychology of violence, and human nature... so I'm not surprised that questions/comments about age appropriateness are being discussed.

Anonymous wrote:I remember my dad letting us watch Robocop when we were like 10 years old. That violence.is seared into my brain even as an adult 30+ years later. Don't underestimate how much the level of graphic and gratuitous violence affects your kids.

I know an 8 year old who has seen it
Probably mine.
If your kid is on TikTok or Roblox or rides the bus or plays on the playground or talks to other kids, then your kid has heard about the show, knows what it is about, and has very likely seen portions of it (or animated versions).

Anonymous wrote:Loved it and wish it was less violent bc my 12 yo would really enjoy all of the themes in the show but no way am I showing him - way too brutal and gory.
